After 8 straight days of hiking and a total of 89.8 miles, we have a rest day! The terrain on this route includes lots of rolling pastureland outlined by miles of stone fence. After pretty successfully dodging rain most of the day, we arrive in the large-for-this-area town of Kirkby-Stephen (the “h” in Kirkby is silent).
What do you do on a rest day in the Yorkshire Dales? Visit a 13th century church, pet the animals at the B&B, do some laundry, have a picnic by a stream and, of course, visit a pub!
